The creator of the Hot Coffee mod received legal threat from publisher of the game, Take-Two. The Hot Coffee mod became popular because of the fact that it recreates Hot Coffee mission Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Using this mod, Red Dead Redemption 2 players will recreate the mission, hooking up with a girl in a bar and having sex afterwards. We should note that the mode does not include any nudity.
One of the co-creators of the mod spoke to Eurogamer regarding the latest developments. The creator begins with telling that they have been ordered to take the mod down. In addition, they received legal threat from Take-Two that they can bring the case to the court. The co-creator believes Take-Two cannot decide on what this mode includes or not. Take-Two's legal team might be confused about what needs to be done.
The e-mail from Take-Two contains a legal threat, mentioning the mod is causing a concern for the game. Take-Two also states that the mod incudes sexuality, but in practice it does not utilize non-in-game animations.
"Honestly I don't think it's fair at all," Unlosing told Eurogamer. "The mod doesn't enable anything that was previously hidden by the devs, and only uses animations/audio that are still used in the Red Dead Redemption 2."
We will see what happens next, when Take-Two decides on their action.
