With all the new Overwatch 2 heroes available, Overwatch 2 is officially here, and we can't wait to play our first game of this evolved hero shooter. However, if you're a brand-new player, you'll have a slightly different experience when the game launches compared to veteran Overwatch 1 players. However, now that Blizzard has confirmed that all of the new Overwatch 2 characters will be available for free at launch, we have all the information you require to do so.

You may have already noticed, but we were very deliberate with our word choice. If you're wondering why a new player in Overwatch 2 needs to know how to unlock every hero, it's because Blizzard is introducing a new First Time User Experience. With limited access to heroes and game modes across many games, this Experience will provide new players with a gradual onboarding experience.
However, this won't continue indefinitely. You won't be concerned about losing out for very long, then. Below, you'll find all the information you need for unlocking both new and returning characters from the Overwatch 2 cast.
Overwatch 2 how to unlock all heroes
When it comes to the information you need to know about how to unlock any hero in Overwatch 2, there are currently only a few specifics that we are aware of. Why? Because Overwatch 2 hasn't been released yet.
Players should be able to unlock "all the original Overwatch heroes over the course of about 100 matches," according to Blizzard's Overwatch 2 Defense Matrix Initiative announcement. Additionally, in order to unlock recently added Overwatch 2 characters like Kiriko, players must advance through the Overwatch 2 battle pass.
Even though we don't know all the specifics, we do know that it shouldn't take you more than 100 games to unlock a certain character in-game. We will add the most recent information to this guide as soon as it is available. Check out everything we know about the Overwatch 2 maps that will be accessible at launch for now, though.
