For the past two weeks, big developers kept canceling their attendance to the GDC 2020. Today, the organizers announced that the event will be postponed until summer. The cause of the decision is the health concerns raised by the global spread of COVID-19.
The annual gaming conference was to be held in San Francisco between 16 and 20 March 2020. The event is now officially postponed. “After close consultation with our partners in the game development industry and community around the world, we’ve made the difficult decision to postpone the Game Developers Conference this March,” says the organizers.
“We want to thank all our customers and partners for their support, open discussions, and encouragement. As everyone has been reminding us, great things happen when the community comes together and connects at GDC. For this reason, we fully intend to host a GDC event later in the summer. We will be working with our partners to finalize the details and will share more information about our plans in the coming weeks.”
In the coming weeks, we expect more news about GDC 2020. The organizers promised to share more about their decisions. When we obtain new information regarding the event, we will share that with you.
